Aaiotanga
Community Space

Aaiotanga Community Space (ACS) is a work of of the Aaiotanga Trust and gift to the city centre neighbourhood at 2F/22 Emily Place.

Founded in 2019, the current  board and director of the Aaiotanga Trust are seeking to provide a peaceful city sanctuary promoting creative community, healthy urban ecology, inclusive relationships and a welcoming neighbourhood where we can all connect and establish our belonging. Vertical apartment living is fun and vibrant but establishing bridges of community along high rise corridors, elevators and behind locked foyers is not always that easy. Thus the importance of community spaces like Aaiotanga.

Already the ACS is an increasingly valuable part of the social fabric of the city centre.  Available for hire at very affordable rates, the ASC is already a home to art classes, mindfulness courses, meditation, Mandarin classes, poetry evenings and a range of community meetings. Body Corporate AGMs and social events are also welcome.

Te Rerenga Ora Iti

The historic Emily Reserve across the road is graced by stunning pohutukawa formations. This site was once a formidable point jutting out into the Waitematā harbour at the same height as the Auckland University that sits on the hill behind it.

Also known as Te Rerenga-ora-iti, this place was named by Ngāti Whātua upon their victory of territory at this exact point. That story is shared in the video clip below by Ngāti Whātua historian Ngarimu Blair. (2:42 min)

This place is so great for a small intimate gathering and the team are so supportive!
