COMMUNITY INITIATIVES

Activities:

This page gives an overview of the community-led activities of the Emily Place neighbourhood (inlcuding Shortland St & Eden Cres). These groups have often emerged from one neighbours good idea of how to grow a sense of community here, bring life to our streets and leave this place better than how we found it. If you want to get involved or have a good idea yourself, contact Diana or Damaris info@acommunity.nz to explore how Aaiotanga Community Space could support you.

The Emily Crew

This is a growing group of neighbours linked together on WhatsApp who are keen to connect like to volunteer to support neighbourhood events from time to time.

This is one of our ways of communicating if somthing new or special is  happening in our Emily Reserve neighbourhood in a friendly informal way.

If you would like to join our Emily Crew WhatsApp crew, send us an email and we will invite you to our next meet up! info@acommunity

The Emily Reserve neighbourhood includes all adjacent streets to Emily Reserve, including Shortland St, Eden Crescent, Bankside St, Upper Princes St, Waterloo Quadrant, Parliament St, Short St, Anzac Ave, Beach Road and Fort St, though boundaries are happily fuzzy! If you are in walking distance of Emily Reserve, you belong!

Emily Gardeners

A group of local community members caring for our planter boxes, supporting the local Bee Sanctuary (see below) and compost hub in Eden Crescent and working on ecological mapping and urban regeneration.

Emily Tunes

First initiated in early 2023, a small group of local music enthusiasts decided to meet up just for the joy singing and making music together.  Learning songs and contributing whatever
